General Information

All of our staff are registered with the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme).  Our senior and practitioner staff are all qualified to SVQ level 3 or above (or working towards a relevant childcare qualification).  All senior, practitioner and support staff must be registered with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council) which is compulsory.

Skool Is Out is owned by company director Sheila Fox who opened Skool Is Out in August 2002.  Sheila spends time each week working closely with the Manager and senior staff in the Skool Is Out office.

Our Staff Team

A recent organisational restructure has changed how we manage the day to day running of the clubs and the administration side of the business.

Managerthe manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our after school clubs, breakfast club as well as our holiday clubs.  The manager is peripatetic, ensuring time is spent supporting the senior staff at the two after school club venues.  The Manager is supported by the Administration Manager.

Administration Manager –   this new post commenced in September 2016 providing support to the Manager with the administrative side of the business.   The Administration Manager is a full time position based at the Skool Is Out office.

Play Coordinators – each of our clubs is overseen by Play Coordinators,  responsible for planning and implementing our play programmes and managing their respective venues.  Our P4-7 Play Coordinator also steps in to cover during the manager’s absence.  The Play-Coordinators also work within the Skool Is Out office.

Senior Play Workers – the Senior Play Workers provide valuable support for their respective Play Leaders at each of our two venues and assist the Play Leaders in the Skool Is Out office.

Practitioner Play Workers  – qualified to SVQ level 3 or above, our Practitioner Play Workers are responsible for organising and executing our activities and collecting children from their respective schools. We have a very diverse staff team, each with their own individual qualities and skills that are invaluable to offering the highest standards of childcare.

Support Play Workers our Support Play Workers operate provide assistance to our Practitioner team in the provision of our outings and activities. Many of our Support Play Workers work their way up to practitioner level within the company.

Casual Support Staffwork primarily in assisting with our school collections and walking buses. Casual Support staff are often students and part-time workers looking for additional experience in the childcare sector.

Volunteers –    on occasion we have volunteers who might be gaining work experience who are still at school and we also have volunteers who are looking for experience of working with children and intend to go on to do primary school teaching.  Many of our volunteers end up as paid members of staff.  We also have previous after school club attendees who have returned to the after school club in high school to work having enjoyed their experience at the after school club.
